The Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) is a not-for-profit national organization established in 1983, dedicated to promoting the well-being and understanding of families in business.
There are CAFE Chapters within most major business regions, stretching from the coast of Vancouver Island to the coast of Nova Scotia.
CAFE offers an outsider's perspective and an insider's understanding of family business. CAFE's objective is to educate, inform and encourage its members in areas of unique interest to family business, through a stimulating program of activities that provide the best sources of information and professional advice available.
Throughout this site, you can access information on CAFE that is national in scope, such as history, national programs and resources available, or information that is specific to the individual Chapters, like a calendar of events, Chapter newsletter and Chapter programs.
Interested in learning more about the dynamics of family business and how the Canadian economy is affected? Do you operate or have shares in or work in a family business? Are you a President or CEO of a family business and tend to act in isolation without adequate support? Have questions but don't know where to turn? CAFE can help…
“CAFE has helped us work through a number of family-related business issues. A partnership with four siblings can be difficult, especially when my brothers report to me as President, but I also report to them as shareholders. Being able to talk through issues that are unique to family businesses in my CAFE Personal Advisory Group (PAG) has really helped me realize that you have to separate the two, and once you draw that line things are much easier to work through.”
