I have no doubt you are watching with concern the frightening situation unfolding in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The wildfires have forced a mandatory evacuation of people from their homes and businesses (many of which are family businesses); some leaving with just the clothes on their backs.
This is the largest fire evacuation in Alberta's history with tens of thousands displaced and the situation could get worse with rapidly changing weather conditions.
CALGARY, AB, February 17, 2016 - Multi-generational family business leaders from across Canada will meet in Calgary May 16-18, 2016 at the Family Business Symposium to share insights on how to avoid the “shirt sleeves to shirt sleeves in three generations” phenomenon. This proverbial old saying describes the fact that relatively few family businesses survive into the 3rd generation. The conference, conducted annually by the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE), is the only one of its kind in Canada and focuses on “building strong families for successful transitions.”
Earlier this year we announced an exciting initiative to unify and transform CAFE to deliver better member value, dramatically expand the size of our business family community, and help Canadian business families experience better outcomes and success. I'm happy to report that we are making excellent progress but also wanted to start engaging you on a deeper level so you better understand what we are doing, the necessity for doing it, and secure your support to make it happen!
