Oakville, ON, June 11, 2015 - The Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) lent it’s support to a new private member’s bill introduced in the House of Commons today by Emmanuel Dubourg, Liberal MP for Bourassa. Bill C-691, if passed, will change the Income Tax Act and lessen the tax burden imposed on business owners who transfer along their business to their children or grandchildren. Under the existing tax rules, business owners selling their business to family members pay more tax than if they were selling to a third party.
