Welcome to CAFE Nova Scotia

The Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the well being of the family in business. It was founded in 1983 by 14 entrepreneurs on the premise that family businesses share unique experiences not necessarily found in non-family businesses. Over the years, CAFE has grown nationally to include 15 chapters, from Halifax to Vancouver Island.

The Nova Scotia Chapter began in 1997 and has grown steadily since. Our chapter is actively supported by our Associate members who host breakfast and lunch sessions on a variety of family business topics.

Chapter dues are $500 plus HST for both family and Associate members. If you are interested in joining CAFE Nova Scotia, please call our Executive Director, Michelle LaVigne at 902-465-2535.

The Schiffers have been involved in CAFE for the past two and a half years, and Anita agrees that membership in the Association provided support when it was needed most. “It was great for our family to have confirmation from the Association that we were on the right path with our succession plan and had a firm foundation for further growth. Membership in CAFE has really helped us as a family business, especially considering that I am the only child actively working in the business. Advice from CAFE has meant that we have incorporated useful elements and made some improvements to our existing succession plan – all of which has seen the whole family being more involved.”
