Café Saskatoon has been a great and necessary support during my transition into Industrial Machine & Mfg. Inc. Immediately there is a sense of belonging to the bigger “family” and all members are very approachable. One of the greatest assets has been the PAG or Personal Advisory Group. The diversity of business backgrounds and the different work phases – whether young and joining the workforce and family business or like myself, shall we say not so young and bringing work experience from outside to the family business, or to the founder looking to retire – there is the ability to give a different perspective or ask the questions that were not thought of before. I would have to say that Café has been a place where they pick you up, dust you off and send you back out there again, but just a bit wiser, with a few more tools in your management kit and a couple of laughs to go.

I see the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise as a resource for business families to communicate and learn from other like minded business families and advisors to business families. While CAFE has many varied and tremendous offerings, it is this sharing environment that is the greatest benefit to families in the ongoing daily activity of running a successful enterprise. I confidently recommend membership in CAFE to family owned enterprises.
