About CAFE Vancouver Island

CAFE Vancouver Island saw its beginnings in 1995 and has been providing support to a community of family businesses on Vancouver Island ever since.  Our mission is to promote the well-being and understanding of families in business, by encouraging, educating and informing members in disciplines unique to the family business.

Our membership consists of a wide range of businesses from small husband and wife teams to large locally owned companies employing thousands.  The commonality between them is the issues they face, both personally and professionally, while working with family members.

Our chapter boasts a diverse resource in our associate members whose skills range from facilitation, taxation specialists, legal advice, bankers, communication consultants, and financial advisors.  Associate members are a valuable resource to family businesses as they can provide expertise on many of the issues families face, such as succession and taxation to name just a few.  In return, associates benefit from the experiences of the family businesses often shared at events and meetings, adding to the associates’ knowledge of the intricacies of family businesses.

The benefits of being a CAFE Vancouver Island member are numerous and include the following:

  1. Providing valuable networking opportunities with other families in business along with other designated professionals.
  2. Helping members successfully achieve a balance between work and family by including the entire family in CAFE.
  3. Joining a Personal Advisory Group (PAG), a group where members share their first-hand experiences with other families in business.
  4. Participating in up to 8 annual program events.

Contact our Managing Director, Sara Benson, by phone at (778) 426-0248 or by email at vancouverisland@cafecanada.ca to find out how CAFE Vancouver Island can benefit you. You will not find a better resource for families in business.
